Today, on 5 June 2026, World Environment Day was observed jointly by the Nature Club, NCC, and NSS of Furkating College (Autonomous).
As part of the celebration, saplings were planted within the premises of the boys' and girls' hostels of the college. The programme began with the planting of a sapling in the girls' hostel by Ms. Gayatri Baruah, Librarian of the College Library. Thereafter, Ms. Indina Senarpi, Assistant Professor, Department of Education; Ms. Krishna Gogoi, Assistant Librarian; and Mr. Debajit Khakhlari, Assistant Professor, Department of Bodo, also planted saplings. Subsequently, more saplings were planted in the girls' hostel premises.
In keeping with the significance of World Environment Day, an essay-writing competition was also organized among the students.
The tree plantation programme was coordinated by Mr. Apurba Ranjan Dutta, Associate Professor, Department of Education and Coordinator of the Nature Club.
Around eighty participants, including NCC boy and girl cadets, NSS volunteers, students, and faculty members, attended the programme. The World Environment Day activities concluded with a vote of thanks extended to all for their cooperation and participation.
