Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) (B.A. B.Ed.)
The Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) (B.A. B.Ed.) is a key mandate of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 which is four-year, dual-degree programme to prepare teachers who are competent, reflective, and professionally trained. It combines pedagogy, fieldwork, school internships and subject knowledge into a single comprehensive program. The NCTE approves the programme, which attempts to improve the standard of teacher preparation in India. ITEP will be available for all students who choose teaching as a profession after passing the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in any stream. This four-year integrated Teacher Education Program offered by the multidisciplinary Higher Education Institutions will become the minimal degree qualification for school teachers. In addition to the teaching of cutting-edge pedagogy, this teacher education programme will also include subjects like Economics, Sociology, History, Science, Psychology etc. ITEP with Preparatory Stage Specialisation will qualify student-teachers for teaching children in Grades 3 to 5 while the ITEP with Secondary Stage is aimed at training teachers specifically for Class IX to XII (Secondary and Senior Secondary levels).
The Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP)(B.A.B.Ed.)is to be introduced at Furkating College (Autonomous) from the academic session 2026-27 in accordance with NEP 2020 and NCTE recommendations. The institution will offer a four-year integrated B.A. B.Ed. program that combines classroom instruction with theoretical knowledge.Qualifying in National Common Entrance Test (NCET) is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission to the four-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP). The admission will be in accordance with government reservation guidelines. The institution supports the programme with experienced faculty members, well-equipped laboratories, digital classrooms, a resource-rich library and sports infrastructure etc.Through this integrated approach, Furkating College (Autonomous) aims to develop skilled, ethical, and innovative teachers equipped to meet contemporary educational needs.
