Today, on Saturday, 23-05-2026, a book was officially released under the initiative of the forum “Efficacy” of the Department of Education, Furkating College (Autonomous). The book release programme was held at the Narayan Chandra Dutta Memorial Conference Hall of the college.
It is noteworthy that, according to the decision of Efficacy, a story collection was planned to be published by collecting stories from students across Assam. Accordingly, two students of the Department of Education at that time, Ankita Dutta and Gitashree Baruah, were entrusted with the joint editorial responsibility. Although some stories were collected then, the book could not be published due to academic and other engagements. However, recently, through the dedication and responsibility of the two editors, the book was finally published.
At the book release ceremony, retired Vice Principal and senior professor of the Department of Education Dr. Lukumoni Goswami, present Academic Vice Principal Dr. Ajanta Rajkhowa, senior artist Manjit Rajkhowa, and former student of Furkating College as well as recipient of the Young Writer Award, Debabrata Gogoi, were present and jointly unveiled the book.
During the programme, Dr. Goswami, Manjit Rajkhowa, and Debabrata Gogoi delivered speeches as unveilers of the book. The two editors also shared their experiences of editing the collection. Writers including Jyosna Baruah, Narmata Bora, Muskan Begum, Baishali Gogoi, and Achik Baruah also spoke about their writings and experiences of writing.
Assistant Professor of the Department of History, Abhishisa Bailung, spoke about the significance of the title of the story collection and conveyed her good wishes to all. Former student Babita Nari shared her experiences as a student and as a reader.
The programme was anchored by Associate Professor of the Department of Education, Apurba Ranjan Dutta. The vote of thanks was delivered by the editors, Ankita Dutta and Gitashree Baruah. Thus, the book release programme concluded successfully.
